Packet Pick-up: Friday, April 18, 4pm to 8pm, and Saturday, April 19, 4:30am to 5:30am, both at Lake Hughes Community Center. NO RACE DAY ENTRIES.

No Pacers Allowed: This is a relatively safe and technically easy course with plenty of daylight at the finish. We ask that everyone on the course have an official entry and wear the bib number. The course is carefully and thoroughly marked with white flour.

Crew Access: Only aid stations #1, #3, #5 & #9 are accessible to crew.  We ask that crew stay off the dirt roads as they are steep and narrow, and aid station volunteers need access to their locations.

Drop Bags for aid stations #3(20.3mi), #5(28.0mi), #9(42.6mi), will be collected at the start/finish area at Lake Hughes Community Center, during packet pick up times. We will have bags available for your use. Mark bags with your name, bib#, & aid station number. Aid stations #5 & 9 don't close until nearly 7pm. To avoid a long wait for your stuff to reach the finish area, mark your bags #5, and #9 (rather than "#5 & 9") and we will try to get them to you sooner. Please mark any drop bags that you don't want returned with "DO NOT RETURN" so we know which ones we don't have to worry about.

Friday Pasta Dinner: FREE to runners, all others $7 (meat sauce), $5.50 (vegetarian sauce), $3.50 children under 10, from 5 - 7pm at the Start/Finish location. Dinners will be available while they last. It includes spaghetti, sauce, salad, roll, desert, coffee, tea, and lemonade. This is a fund raiser for the Lakes Women's Club who take pride in their home-cooked meals.

Race Day Check In, Drop Bags, Packet Pick Up: Saturday, 4:30 - 5:30am at the Lk Hughes Com. Center. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY! Hot drinks and muffins!

Starter Tags: The bright pink colored square attached to bib number MUST be turned in to a race official on race-day before the race starts. If we don't have your starter tag we don't know that you've actually started, so we won't miss you if you go off course.

Pre-Race Briefing: There will be a pre-race briefing both at the Friday pasta dinner and Saturday morning at 5:40am at the starting line. A large (4' x 8') map of the course will be on display in the Community Bldg. Friday and Saturday.

RACE STARTS at 6am SHARP! Arrive early so you don't get caught in the potty line when the saw blade rings to signal the start.

Drop Outs: Any runner who drops out must inform race officials at an aid station immediately so we don't spent time & effort looking for someone who isn't lost. If this happens, the runner will be billed for any search & rescue expenses. Runners who hand in their starter tags and for some reason do NOT actually start must tell a race official immediately!

Cut Offs: No runner who continues past a cut off will be included in the official results. These generous cut offs are imposed for the safety of the runners and out of consideration for the volunteers, without whom events like this would not be possible.
  • 5 hours at aid station #3 (20.3 mi)
  • 9 1/2 hours at aid station #8 (38.6 mi)
  • 11 hours at aid station #9 (42.6mi) for 50 milers
  • 13 hours to finish for both the 50 miler and 28.4 miler
We reserve the right to refuse future race entry to any runner who continues on the course after the cut offs.

Aid Stations: Gatorade (shelf strength), cola, sprite, fruit, cookies, candy, chips, boiled potatoes (at later aid stations), pretzels, sandwiches, and maybe something homemade by our fabulous volunteers. Hot soup at aid st. #4, 5, 9, 10. Aid stations will have basic first aid kits with band aids, vaseline, etc. Please bring your own aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. Please show your appreciation to our wonderful volunteers as you pass through the aid stations!

PLEASE DO NOT LITTER ON THE COURSE! Trash bags will be available at each Aid Station to dispose of your trash.

Professional Photographer: We are excited to have Lori Cooper with Shoot Me Photography out on the course capturing those great shots of our participants. Photos can be ordered after the race and on their website.

Finish Line Food: Hot soup & beverages will be available for finishers at the Community Bldg. The Lakes Women's Club will be cooking & selling hot food & snacks for crew, friends, & anyone else who might get hungry.

Awards: Presented to the overall winners of both the 50 and 28.4 mile runs, and top finishers in the age groups for the 50 mile run at the start/finish site as we sort out the results. Every finisher also receives a finisher shirt.

Free Drawing: While you are running, we will be drawing from all those starter tags you turned in, to see who will be going home with a fabulous item from one of our generous sponsors. If your tag is drawn you will be handed the item as you finish. If by chance you drop out please check at the finish area to see if you won anything. We will not mail any items not claimed.
